WELCOME FROM THE DIRECTOR

The World of ABC Waldo School project came to life, when two friends came together because they could not find a school in the area that followed their educational philosophy for their children.

Located in the heart of the Waldo section of the Jersey City Waterfront, World of ABC, The Waldo School sets the standard for leading private education. By adopting and developing a highly innovative curriculum, our students are encouraged to explore and flourish while discovering and developing new talents. Our students are inspired to grow as individuals, with no child forced to ascribe to one specific mold, through equal emphasis on all disciplines and opportunities to explore concepts at his or her own pace.

All class sizes remain at a reduced number well below the state ratio. Classes are paired with one Lead Teacher and one Assistant Teacher to ensure minimal student to teacher ratios as well as ensure the facilitation of one-on-one learning. Due to our dramatically decreased ratios, our students are able to develop a deeper conceptual understanding of material and important communication, social, thinking, research and self-management skills through constant assessment and targeted differentiation. Student learning is built upon what students already know and connections are made to prior experiences to make learning meaningful and lasting. As a result, our students learn at an accelerated rate, with many of our students performing one to two grade levels ahead of their peers.

Important to our curriculum is also the belief in making sure students are able to be successful in an increasingly global world. Students learn through themes and concepts that have global relevance and require students to think critically about real-world problems and situations. Character development is also held to an equal importance to academic development, with students taught to be caring, knowledgeable and principled individuals who understand how to take what they have learned and translate it into meaningful action within their communities. In addition, students are equipped with important global skills, including thinking and inquiry skills within science and mathematics, technology usage, and foreign language instruction (Spanish).

Our facility is home to 21st century technology, complete with a laptop enriched computer lab as well as iPad and interactive whiteboard technology. Our airy classrooms, infused with sunlight and an eco-friendly interior containing sustainable toys and equipment with multiple green elements are home to a student body that keeps environmental impact at the forefront of the decisions they make both at school and at home. Also offered is our organic and all natural snack program included in monthly tuition.

In addition to our school philosophy and contemporary facilities, we also believe in the necessity of having an experienced and dedicated staff of educators who can take our vision and turn it into tangible outcomes within each student. World of ABC, The Waldo School employs an eclectic blend of educators who are leaders in our field. Our faculty comes to us from varying degree backgrounds. While many of our faculty are NJ state certified teachers, others possess specialized degrees in specific fields of study. Our faculty not only possess strong academic backgrounds, but extensive hands on teaching experience as well.
