Summer Camp - 2020

We are excited to share with you our 2020 World of ABC, The Waldo School summer camp program! This program will be offered to children ages 4-11 years old, in either a remote or on-campus format (on-campus at our 110 1st Street Location). Featuring engineering, technology, science and art activities, campers will problem solve and engage in a student-driven, inquiry-based setting. Campers will explore exciting, STEAM-focused themes with our experienced Waldo School teachers. With projects such as Lego stop motion, space investigations, and junior engineering challenges, campers will be busy all summer! Campers will also keep their learning skills sharp with a focus on critical thinking for both mathematics and language arts. Both subjects will model our school year approaches: group and individual support with integrations of real-world applications while teaching for enduring understanding.

We are offering families flexibility with our summer camp programs, with four different sessions throughout July and August to choose from. Families will be able to choose either our online or on-campus options. Please note that if the minimum number of campers does not enroll in a program option (online or on-campus), enrollment will be cancelled, and parents can choose to enroll in the other available option.

Online Program: All classes will be conducted synchronously through Zoom live video conferencing in age-based groups with our experienced Waldo School teachers. Campers will also be provided with materials needed to work through each of the activities, which can be picked up from the Waldo School prior to the start of each session.

On-Campus Program: We are taking into account all safety guidelines and precautions as recommended by the state and CDC. All classes will be conducted in age-based groups with one of our experienced Waldo School teachers (campers will stay with the same teacher throughout each camp day). Group sizes will be limited, and transitions between physical rooms in the school will be minimized. Campers will also be provided with their own personal material sets needed to work through each of the activities and shared materials will be disinfected between use. Start and end times will also be staggered to help ensure social distancing. In addition, all appropriate health checks (including temperature checks upon arrival for staff and campers and mandatory face coverings) and extensive cleaning guidelines will be in place all summer. Please also note that the school will need up-to-date copies of all immunizations and health records for on-campus campers.

Please note that campers will be placed in the age group they completed in the 2019 - 2020 school year. Applications for each session must be submitted no later than two weeks prior to the start of the session, to ensure ample time to order the adequate number of necessary supplies.
